Matcha brand reviews

One review per seller, covering their whole range — not a single tin cherry-picked to make a point.

Disclosure: We buy the matcha we review. Some links on this page earn us a commission at no extra cost to you — it never changes a ranking or a verdict. How this works.

There are no brand reviews here yet, and there will not be one until a tin has been bought and drunk. A review carries a rating, and a rating from a tin nobody opened is a fabricated review. The page is live rather than hidden because the method is published first and the results second — that order is the point.

When they arrive, each review covers a seller's whole range rather than one cherry-picked tin, and every one follows the same shape: who the range suits, what each tier tastes like, the price per gram in Canadian dollars once shipping and tax have landed, how long delivery to Canada actually took, and what we would buy instead. Losers get published alongside winners.

Every tin is paid for at retail. Nothing is sent to us, and no seller sees a review before it goes up — the full protocol, including what we refuse to claim, is at how we test. Commission rates play no part in a rating, which is set out in the editorial policy.

In the meantime, the shortlist of what is being bought is on the buying guide, and the checks that matter more than any brand name are in how to spot fake matcha and where to buy in Canada.
